Configuring Netscape 6 for E-Mail

  1. Start Netscape
  2. From the "Window" menu select "Mail & Newsgroups"
  3. Click the "Create a new account" link
  4. Select "Email account" and click the "Next >" button
  5. Enter your name and your email address; click the "Next >" button
  6. In the "Incoming mail server" box enter your mail server; click the "Next >" button
  7. Enter your username ("jersmith" in the example "jersmith@aesasp.com"); click the "Next >" button
  8. Give the account a meaningful name, like "aes" and click the "Next >" button
  9. Click the "Finish" button

Finally, set the correct outgoing (SMTP) mail server:
  1. From the "Edit" menu, select "Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings"
  2. Click on "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" in the list on the left
  3. In the server name box, enter your outgoing mail server name
  4. Uncheck the "Use name and password" check box (unless required by your ISP)
  5. Click OK
